Congrats to Urban Plants on a Big Week at StartUp Texas

Congrats to Urban Plants for a packed week at the eBridge Center—on stage for StartUp Texas Pitch Fest (Tue, Sept 9) and Demo Day (Thu, Sept 11)

On Demo Day, the team took 1st Runner Up, securing $20,000 in funding to grow their vision for sustainable food systems.

Who is Urban Plants?
Urban Plants is a graduate of our NASA Tech Trek training program and an active company in the Expanding Frontiers Accelerator. Their work focuses on practical vertical hydroponics for food access—ideas they’ve been pressure-testing with mentors and peers through our programs.

Why this matters
StartUp Texas (a BCIC accelerator and fund) gives RGV founders a public platform, investor feedback, and community visibility. Showing up twice in one week puts Urban Plants in front of customers, mentors, and potential partners at the region’s flagship startup venue.
