Meet our Team
Dr. Fredrick Jenet
Executive Director
Dr. Fredrick Jenet is the founder and executive director of Expanding Frontiers, a nonprofit organization based in Brownsville, Texas, dedicated to promoting the growth of a commercial space ecosystem. He is an accomplished entrepreneur, visionary researcher, and innovative educator who has initiated multiple projects in Texas to support state and national efforts in space exploration and commercialization.
Dr. Jenet established the Center for Advanced Radio Astronomy, which is the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s first center of excellence. He also founded STARGATE, a NewSpace technology development program with facilities located at the Boca Chica launch complex in South Texas. Additionally, he created Rockets and Rigs, a collaborative initiative between academia, industry, and government that addresses common challenges in the space and energy sectors.
Dr. Jenet earned his Bachelor of Science in Physics from MIT in 1993 and his Ph.D. in Physics from Caltech in 2001. His previous experience includes serving as a senior research scientist at the Schlumberger-Doll Research Laboratory and working as a postdoctoral scholar at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
