From Award to Action: Expanding Frontiers Launches Capital Readiness Events for Fall 2026

Last December, we shared the news that Expanding Frontiers had been selected as a 2025 Growth Accelerator Fund Competition (GAFC) awardee under the Capital Formation category of America's Seed Fund, a U.S. Small Business Administration initiative. At the time, we mentioned that beginning in 2026, ExF planned to launch a series of Capital Formation Literacy Workshops to help founders and community members better understand funding mechanisms and practical steps toward accessing capital. That plan is now taking shape.

Introducing the Capital Readiness Events Series

The Expanding Frontiers Capital Readiness Series, sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration, is a fall 2026 workshop series designed to help entrepreneurs and investors build clearer, more effective capital conversations. The series will be held virtually and is open to participants from anywhere. Expanding Frontiers serves as the connector, welcoming founders and supporters from inside and outside South Texas into the region's growing technology and innovation network.

The series begins with virtual workshops focused on capital readiness and concludes with a mixer that brings both groups together to turn learning into real connections and follow-up.

What Entrepreneurs Can Expect

For entrepreneurs, this series focuses on what it actually means to be capital ready. Through virtual workshops, founders will learn how investors think, what signals matter most, and how to communicate their ideas more clearly and confidently. The goal is to reduce guesswork, avoid common mistakes, and help founders prepare for meaningful conversations, whether they are raising now or planning ahead. The series ends with a mixer where entrepreneurs can connect with investors and supporters in a welcoming environment designed to make introductions easier and follow-up more natural.

What Investors and Supporters Can Expect

For investors and supporters, the Capital Readiness Series offers a chance to engage more effectively with early-stage entrepreneurs. The virtual workshop provides a shared lens for evaluating readiness and understanding how to support founders in ways that create real progress. The final mixer brings investors and entrepreneurs together after the learning phase, creating space for more focused conversations and potential next steps. Whether you invest, mentor, sponsor, or simply want to stay connected to innovation in South Texas and beyond, this series is designed to foster clearer signals, stronger relationships, and long-term ecosystem impact.

Why This Matters

Access to capital remains one of the most significant challenges facing early-stage founders, particularly in regions like South Texas where those networks are still growing. This series is a direct response to that challenge, and it reflects the trust the U.S. Small Business Administration has placed in Expanding Frontiers to help strengthen the region's innovation ecosystem.

We are grateful to America's Seed Fund and the SBA for making this possible, and we look forward to bringing our community together this fall.
